6 ingots of pure power, who will wield them?
Avengers: Infinity War is the blockbuster 2018 sci fi, adventure, action movie from Marvel. It stars pretty much everyone from the previous Marvel movies, Robert Downey Junior, Zoe Zaldana, Paul Bethany, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans - the list goes on and on. Making his big entrance is Josh Brolin as Thanos, father of Gamora, and wanna be slayer of half the universe. The Guardians of the Galaxy also make an appearance, as well as Dr. Strange, again once played by Benedict Cumberbatch. We even get to see Black Panther and the armies of Wakanda. It’s a who’s who of Marvel all rolled up into one spectacular movie.
Avengers: Infinity War starts off exactly where Thor: Ragnarok ends, with the Asgardian spaceship being confronted by Thanos’s enormous battle cruiser. From the very first instance, it's obvious that even the mighty must fall, and have fallen - with the assistance of the Hulk making no difference, as Thanos takes possession of the tesseract, and the infinity stone held within it. Hiemdall sends Banner back to Earth with his last dregs of life force, so that he can warn the Avengers of the impending disaster coming their way. From the moment Bruce Banner crashes through Dr. Strange’s sanctum roof, a desperate race commences, not just on the planet Earth, but throughout the Galaxy, as everyone and anyone begins a mad hunt to find or protect the remaining Infinity Stones. Even though Earth’s mightiest heroes have beaten alien armies of chitauri, Ultron and his mechanical horde, even survived a battle amongst themselves, will they be enough to protect the lives of every living being in the galaxy?
Avengers: Infinity War is totally mind blowing. The action starts from the very first scene and continues until the unbelievable finale. A lot of people had doubted whether Marvel could actually pull off combining all of the characters from different storylines in so many movies, but they did it, and they did it gloriously. The characters are seamlessly introduced into the plot; having seen the other Marvel movies helps a lot here. All of the acting is first rate, but the main spotlight is, of course, held by Josh Brolin’s Thanos. He does a fantastic job of bringing this larger than life bad guy to the big screen. We get to learn why he is so driven to unite the six Infinity Stones, and also learn more about the life of his daughter Gamora - no hints, you’ll just have to watch and see. The action set pieces are many. From Titan to Knowhere to Earth. Battles spread across the realms as sons and daughters of Thanos battle the heroes to find and take possession of the stones. There’s so much going on that even after witnessing the breathtaking final scenes, you’re probably going to want to watch it all over again. Amongst all of this, we also learn more about the relationships between the characters after the breakup of the Avengers, even a bit of romance raises its head. Believe the hype and get off your ass and go see Avengers: Infinity War, it’s a rollercoaster ride of adrenaline and emotion from the opening scene until the roll of the final credits that will leave you asking for more.
